Trucking today
I work in the shipping department and we process drivers in and out 24 hours a day and I work 13 hour shifts. My problem is that in the 90s it was different. Drivers showed up spoke English you processed paperwork and moved on. Today rarely anyone speaks English they can't communicate properly. Wreak havoc on the lot. Won't follow directions. Get mad at me for the fact I am female and asking them to slide tandems that literally some have no idea how. To unhook from the trailer to weigh. OMG that is just ridiculous and they refuse. But mostly the language barrier is ridiculous. I know DOT regulations say they must speak and understand English so how are these people still on the road and they all have the last name Singh????? Is it just me? I hate going to work everyday dealing with this and only 5 years from retirement. This has been a 39 year career for back story that I have always loved until the past 5 years.
