What to put on my skimmer lid?

My skimmer lid is a big flat fake rock. It’s great and blends in nicely, but that means visitors try to step on it. It’s obviously not made for that and I can’t find a good solution to deter it from happening. I have a solar metal lotus on there but it’s just not big enough. I go into the skimmer box enough that I don’t want whatever is up there to be heavy, hard to move, or to take away from the scene. Any suggestions?

I’m considering saving the water from rinsing out filter pads to use in the garden. I’ve done this in the past because it’s such a great source of nutrients. But, I can’t always use it in the garden when I’ve rinsed off the filter pad or cleaned out the skimmer net. I’ve thought about rinsing the pads off into a rain barrel that I can access when I’m ready to use it in the garden. I don’t want it to get clogged from sludge and muck so I wouldn’t put more solid stuff in there. But, what are your thoughts about this? I don’t want it to be smelly, but I also hate to just let that great garden water go to waste.
