Tasting menu spotlighting seasonal Québécois ingredients for a solo visitor in October?
I'm traveling to Montreal for a long weekend in October, and I want to treat myself to a tasting menu. I'm looking for a menu that highlights local ingredients for that season (I love vegetables, especially in the fall) and features an interesting wine pairing. I'm looking for something around $100, not including wine and service, but I could be convinced to splurge for the right menu.
Candide intrigues me the most right now; I love how ingredient-driven it seems and it looks like a fun place for a solo diner. Hélicoptère also seems like a great option for a seasonal menu. I'm also curious about Lawrence (and down to spend extra with the service included), but I can't tell if the cuisine leans more British or Québécois.
Mastard was also on my shortlist, but looks booked up when I'll be there. And I'm also going to try to get a reservation for Vin Mon Lapin one night, and definitely planning to go to a more classic bistro like L'Express, so don't worry about suggesting those.
Where would you choose, or is there another place I'm not considering? Do any seasonal restaurants particularly shine in the fall? Merci beaucoup!
