Hello there fellow model railroad fans and builders!
So, been into the hobby for about two years, it has been a slow go, not a rich guy, so acquiring little by little, but finally getting my permanent model set up! Went for fastrack, on green plastic-based carpet, set on top of two pieces of maple plywood. My plan is to screw the track pieces down after I get my wiring done - Question though (feel free to point me to another thread, as I am sure it has come up before):
How do you get the rails to connect/meet as seamlessly as they can?

Know it won't be razorblade test seamless (I'm crazy, but not unrealistic), but would like to get it to where I can pass my finger over it and the rail connection not pinch or catch, in either direction, for a smooth run. Some of my engines and rolling stock are moderately expensive, and I'm not looking to chip and wear out their wheels pre-maturely, if possible.

Right now the only solution I am aware of would be when I screw the pieces down, the tension on the ends could be adjusted - but that's only as far as the holes for the screws - not the best, or most consistent method - but sure I could shim under the ends too?

Thoughts and suggestions from all of you? -
Thanks!
