After a random discussion with a friend about how painful it is to track expenses with all the UPI, bank, and card SMSs flying around, I decided to build something simple.
I vibecoded Spends: Expense Tracker using Claude. Main features:
- Automatically reads only transaction SMSs (banks, GPay, PhonePe, cards etc.)
- Auto-categorizes spends (food, travel, bills, shopping...)
- 100% offline — no internet, no accounts, no cloud
- All data stays on device
- Clean monthly charts and insights
Built it purely as an experiment to solve our daily Indian payment chaos. It actually works well now, so sharing here for feedback from fellow devs (especially on SMS parsing edge cases or categorization improvements).
