Defining woke
Woke is pejorative term that is used to criticize the awareness of social injustices such as racism, sexism, and queerphobia. It was originally used by black people to describe the awareness of antiblackness, but it has evolved into a term that broadly describes minority groups and movements in support of them. It is mostly prevalent in the United States of America, but its usage has spread to other English speaking countries as well.
