Finally moving from hybrid to road recommendations/advice

I’ve recently started cycling regularly with friends, and we’re now training for longer rides with the goal of eventually doing London to Paris. I’m still riding the hybrid I bought about 10 years ago, but since we’re stepping things up, it feels like the right time to move to a proper road bike.

I’m not totally new to cycling, but I’m definitely still in the learning stage. I browsed Facebook Marketplace for a bit but decided I’d rather buy new. I went to Evans for some advice and ended up looking at the Cube Attain Race 2026 with the Shimano Tiagra groupset.

I’m still comparing options, so I wanted to ask:
Are there any other bikes around the £1.3k max range that are worth considering?

Also, is it worth paying the extra £200 for the Tiagra model, or is the Cube Attain with Shimano Claris good enough for someone who wants to take cycling seriously but isn’t going full‑on competitive?

I just want to get a bike sorted as I've been looking for a while now.
