Just getting into back packing. I have been doing Ultras and trail runs for years now. Very familiar with load management especially on long trips. I’m planning a 3 day, 2 night, 33 mile back packing trip around a state park.

I wanted opinions and tips do ensure I bring what would be better sleep wise/weight wise for a first time backpacker. It will be in the summer so I know a hammock with a big tent and a rain cover are compact and light. I also know with my military career sleeping on the ground isn’t that bad, but a sleep mat/pad is highly recommended.

So if I could get tips or even product recommendations for both and why you choose that item, I’d be very appreciative. Thank you all in advance and hope your trips are everything you wanted them to be 🙏 God Bless
