A state trooper pulled me over for using an electronic device while driving in New Paltz. I of course will plead not guilty and hope for a reduction, but what I'm getting conflicting information on is whether to request a supporting deposition. I see the rules say "generally it is a good idea to check yes for supporting deposition." Is that the case for cell phone tickets as well?

Any thoughts/recommendations would be greatly appreciated. My main goal is to avoid points, so fines I haver no problem taking on the chin if needed. I have a speeding ticket in NYC from last February that was 4 points and I know that most likely isn't going to change (court is in May) so I figure any chance of relief needs to come from this one and I don't want to mess it up.

Thanks in advance.
