Going to Uppsala in August! Need advice on food, grocery tips, and nations

Hey guys! I'm back again to ask a bit more about living in Uppsala, since I'm going there in August. What is the food culture like? Do you recommend any specific dishes or restaurants? How are the markets? I'll probably cook a lot too, so I want to be prepared for that. Also, does the university have a student cafeteria? If so, what do students think about it? And another thing, do you recommend the nations? How do you join them?

Exchange student moving to Uppsala next semester! Looking for tips

Hi everyone! This is my first time posting here. I’m an exchange student from outside Europe moving to Uppsala next semester and I will be staying in Rackarbergsgatan. Since I'm moving completely by myself, I’m a bit anxious about the culture clash and making friends. Are Swedish people reserved, or is it easy to connect? How are the professors and the classes structured there? Also, is English enough to get by comfortably around the city, or is knowing Swedish very important (even though I plan to learn some)? I’d love to know what the general vibe and social life are like, how the student Nations work for newcomers, and if you have any practical tips regarding buying a secondhand bike, what to check at the accommodation on day one, or items you regretted not packing. Any advice would mean the world to me!
