Hello pros- need layout opinions?

Hired a guy who swore up and down he was a professional level setter and his quality would meet my standards for a backsplash job. I’m a small GC, but also do 60+% of the work myself, so I’ve only hired a tile setter once before in the last decade.
What’s your take on his corners and the pattern he chose? I thought running bond was the only thing that would ever make sense doing but to me it just looks like he reversed the rows. He argued that he has only had 1 other client ever question his layout choices…
So am I off base? Or is he?
Overall, as long as my client doesn’t complain about the layout, the rest of the job was acceptable, minus needing to spend 20$ on oversized plate covers to cover broken and missing cuts around the receptacles…

Thanks for your input.
