I've taken a job in a country school. It's not in an affluent area, but I wouldn't describe it as being disadvantaged either. But honestly, the behaviour is shocking. Like seriously shocking (to me as a foreigner anyway). I'm sworn at every day, I've been spit on, I've been hit etc.

I used to work in a seriously disadvantaged school in my home country, and it wasn’t even close to this bad. At least there, I could actually teach.

Here, the constant disruption and lack of respect means

I genuinely can’t teach anything most days.

I'm starting to wonder is teaching in Australia the right job for me. I'm seriously contemplating moving back to my home country, the pay is less, but I just don't see how this is sustainable.

Those of you who continue to work in these conditions are absolute saints.

Has is always been this bad? How has it gotten to this?
