We had a 4.3 rating… but still struggled to get customers.
For the longest time, I genuinely believed anything above 4 stars meant we were doing fine.
Customers would find us online.
Views were decent.
Calls weren’t terrible.
But something felt off.
People would check us out… and then disappear.
At first we blamed:
* pricing
* competition
* marketing
* “the economy”
But one day I searched our business the same way a customer would.
That’s when it clicked.
Right above us:
* competitor had more recent reviews
* more owner replies
* more photos
* customers mentioning staff by name
* stronger “trust” feeling overall
Meanwhile our profile looked… inactive.
Not bad.
Just forgettable.
That honestly changed how I look at local businesses completely.
I think a lot of owners assume:
“Good service automatically speaks for itself.”
But online, perception speaks first.
Anyone else realize this later than they should have?
