Hey so…
My boss has a website on Wordpress for his pizza store, and what happened was I went into site settings and changed the url to something else just to see if it would load with the new url. It didn’t. And now when I go to dashboard whenever I click anything, pages, settings, anything at all, it shows reload page and error. Basically all the links are broken and I can’t change the sites url back because of it. I can’t transfer or create a copy of the site because well it’s broken.
I’m trying hard to connect to the support team for a human engineer but it just keeps saying none are available right now.
Another thing, I tried asking A.I. what I should do and it suggested using where I bought the domain and maybe reconnecting through there to sum it up. Well, when I checked unfortunately my boss got scammed and paid a fake company 300 dollars for the domain and he doesn’t own it and when I go to their website there’s no way to fix it.
If anyone has any ideas on what I can do at all please let me know I’m pretty desperate as all his orders go through his online portal and it would really effect his small business not receiving orders from customers.
UPDATE: so through support I found out my site is hosted on Enom? At least I think, what do I do do I contact them or do I try and login I don’t understand….
UPDATE 2: alright hey guys. Thank you all so much for your help and your advice. It’s honestly all so helpful because Im honestly just a UX/UI designer and have experience and confidence with systems such as GitHub or simple coding languages…not something like this at ALL. So thank you, definitely a learning experience “don’t touch shit if ur not 100% sure” yup. Made a mental note of that haha. But if anyone was wondering here’s the update on what’s happenings now: basically when trying to contact the host we found out that the person who previously developed everything actually gave my boss 0 information about the host website, any passwords or client ID’s. In fact my boss didn’t even know where the site was hosted from and it turned out not to be even Enom, it was hostpapa(I had to figure that one out) and the dude was paying almost 300 dollars to some fake company who was claiming to “take care” of his domain. Unfortunately it was a scam. I don’t blame him though as my boss isn’t tech savvy and is more of a business man so I guess he didn’t know he should have all this information. So what we did now is ACTUALLY buy a domain name and then i can create a website for him on Wordpress. Kind of worked for the best since he wanted to change the name of his business and redesign the website and whatnot anyways. For me? Kind of a pain in the ass since I’m starting from scratch but oh well. But i guess me taking the website down was more of a pain in the ass than this XD. But at the same time we contacted the person who is a sort of “developer” for his website so that we can get the client ID and information, so that way we can run the website back up from the host directly…and then maybe change the password so he doesn’t have to run around calling people and not having his information. If that works out and we DO get the information, then we can just simply use the new domain we bought and implement it onto that site. But yeah. Anyways, thank you all so very much I appreciate it more than you know, it lead me in the right direction when trying to figure this out :))
