♡ Review (As of 18 May 2026) ♡
Before Surgery:
Hi everyone! I’m sharing my experience at Cocoline Clinic after undergoing rhinoplasty with Dr. Kim Seon-Gu slightly over a week ago.
For context, I’ve wanted rhinoplasty for years because my nose naturally drooped downward, and from certain side angles, especially with my prominent cheekbones, my nose appeared flatter than I liked. My biggest insecurity was always my side profile.
Last year, I finally decided to seriously look into getting surgery done. Initially, I was interested in another clinic that specialised in rhinoplasty, but later found out they did not accept foreign patients. Since I specifically wanted a clinic known for noses, I continued researching and eventually came across a Reddit comment mentioning Cocoline.
The comment felt genuine and organic, so I started looking into the clinic myself. What stood out to me immediately was how natural their results looked. Their noses looked refined and balanced without appearing overdone, and I liked that they were capable of both subtle and more defined styles depending on the patient. After reading reviews and looking through their before and after photos, I decided to proceed with them despite feeling nervous, as I felt reassured by the consistency of their results.
I first contacted the clinic via WhatsApp in January, and throughout the entire process, Selena (the clinic translator) patiently answered every single question I had. She was detailed and reassuring, which made the entire experience much less intimidating, especially since I was travelling to Korea alone specifically for this procedure.
Why I Chose Rib Cartilage:
I ultimately chose rib cartilage because I wanted the results to be as long-lasting and stable as possible. I had read articles online and also spoken to friends who had rhinoplasty using ear cartilage, and some mentioned that their noses softened or changed shape over time due to the cartilage being softer. A few even told me they wished they had used rib cartilage instead.
Since I wanted this surgery to be permanent and hoped to minimise the likelihood of needing revision surgery in the future, I decided rib cartilage was the best option for me.
Surgery & Recovery Experience:
I scheduled my consultation on the same day as my surgery. Upon arriving at the clinic, they first took CT scans and pre-surgery photos from multiple angles. After that, I met with Selena and a female consultant to discuss my concerns. She carefully reviewed my CT scan and explained that I actually had a deviated septum — something I had never known before. She also understood the exact look I wanted almost immediately, even before I fully explained it myself, which made me feel very reassured.
Later, Dr. Kim came in to go through everything with me again. He analysed my facial features in great detail and explained my nose structure and proportions far better than I could myself. I had prepared a long list of concerns and requests, and he listened patiently to every single one without ever making me feel rushed. Overall, I felt genuinely heard throughout the consultation process, and the staff were attentive and reassuring.
After the consultation, I changed and went in for surgery. I was placed under IV sedation, and the next thing I remember was waking up after the procedure and being moved to a recovery bed. The entire surgery day honestly felt like a blur. Despite travelling alone, the recovery immediately after surgery was much more manageable than I expected. I was able to take an Uber back to my accommodation on my own and even prepare dinner afterwards without much difficulty.
The Hardest Part — Nasal Packing:
The most difficult part of the experience was definitely the first two days before my nasal packing was removed. Once the surgery medication wore off, the discomfort from the packing became very noticeable. My rib area mainly felt sore rather than painful, but the nasal packing was far more uncomfortable.
Since I could only breathe through my mouth and experienced bleeding through the packing, those two days were definitely the toughest part of recovery, especially when trying to sleep at night. One thing that helped was using the ice pack the clinic provided on my cheeks every few hours, as it temporarily eased some of the discomfort and pressure caused by the packing. However, once the packing was removed, I instantly felt significantly better. My energy levels improved immediately, and I was able to go out comfortably for the rest of the trip (I even walked over 10,000 steps daily afterwards!). I mainly wore a cap, mask, and used an umbrella to protect my casted nose from the sun and avoid too much attention.
Day 2 – 7 Post Op:
The recovery period post nasal packing removal honestly passed quite quickly, and before I knew it, it was time to remove my cast and stitches. I was both nervous and excited, and although it took a little adjustment seeing my new nose and how it looked on my face for the first time, I’ve genuinely been very happy with the results so far, even with the swelling still present.
One thing I especially appreciated was how involved Dr. Kim was throughout the entire process. He personally removed my nasal packing and stitches himself. From what I’ve seen online, many larger clinics typically leave those steps to nurses, so I really appreciated how hands on and involved he was at every stage, not just during the surgery itself.
Final Thoughts (So Far)****:
As someone who spent months obsessively reading every Cocoline review possible before committing, it honestly feels surreal to now be writing my own review after finally going through with the surgery. Although I’m still early in my recovery, everything has gone very smoothly so far, and I’m extremely happy with how my nose looks already. I was initially worried my partner might struggle to adjust to the change in my appearance, but they told me I look even better now! ><
Looking back now, I’m honestly even grateful that the other clinic did not accept foreign patients, because that ultimately led me to discovering Cocoline Clinic instead :) I’ll continue updating my results at the 1, 3, and 6 month mark, and please feel free to leave any questions in the comments — I’ll try my best to answer them whenever I can! I completely understand how overwhelming it can feel before surgery, especially when you’re filled with doubts and trying to make the “right” decision, so I’d genuinely love to help anyone who is still researching or deciding on a clinic.
This surgery was also a huge investment for me personally — I had used an entire year’s worth of work savings for it, as rhinoplasty, especially using rib cartilage, is definitely on the pricier side. However, I wanted to prioritise quality, care, and long-term results, and was willing to pay more in hopes of avoiding future revisions. So far, I truly feel the experience, care provided, and results have made the price worth it for me.
I’ve also seen comments online from people who are doubtful because most reviews about Cocoline are positive — and honestly, I completely understand why people feel cautious because I had the exact thoughts too. I even spent a long time trying to search for negative reviews before making my decision. But after personally going through the process myself, I can genuinely say I had a very positive experience and am incredibly grateful for how everything turned out. I hope this review helps anyone currently researching clinics and considering rhinoplasty at Cocoline Clinic!
