Yellow slip, should be simple but still feeling bamboozled. Pease help

Hi there,

Hope you kind people can help me out a little.

EU citizen renting a small appartment since 1st March and physically arrived mid March to lve here. March and April and part of May I worked for my old employer in UK until my own Ltd was set up in which I work now.

With the company up and running I requested a yellow slip appointment in Paphos and after 1.5 weeks somebody actually responded to my email and gave me an appointment towards end of August.

August will be well after my 4 months I have time to get it sorted. Account who opened Ltd for me is offering me an appointment next week for 250€ with an agent. That's 12.5 times the cost of 20€ the Immigration Department asks for.

While I could pay for it I also don't really see the point. The money saved would be a few good meals in nice places.

  1. Why can get agents appointments so quick? Feels like a rip off and a corrupted system with the government at heart not providing slots earlier. Any chance of getting an earlier slot or is the only way to use an agent?

  2. I am feeling bamboozled of what documents I actually need.

I looked here and here and on Google and various websites but I keep getting conflicting info.

What I figued I need is:

- Filled out MEU1B form

- Valid passport --> How many copies do I need and do I provide copies myself or do I just take my passport and they make copies during appointment?

- Proof of health insurance: I am still with the NHS in UK and employed as Director of my Cyprus Ltd. and already paid myself for April and May a higher salary and paid social security contributions. Should I not be entitled to Gesy already and not need that?

- Rental contract: I read I need to have it stamped by a local Mukhtar/certification officer. Do they just put a stamp on a piece of paper and ask for moeny? Do they acually check something?

- Proof of income: Do I ust write myself as Director of my own Ltd a letter and say I am employed and earn xxxx€ per month and sign it and put a company stamp on it?

Questions:

- The MEU1B form asks for a "Declaration of Mailing Address". What is that and is this not technically confirmed with stamping of the rental contract? Seems duplication and zero value add.

- Bank statements: Do I just provide payslips for April and May salary I paid myself through my Ltd? Do they need to have payslips that show when I ate where, went shopping to which shop, etc. ? This could be many, many pages as I pay rent from one account, pay for shopping from another, etc.

- In the MEU1B form in section III it asks for "Particulars of Employment" and in section IV is asks for "Declaration of self employment". I think I only need to fill out III as I am employed as Director of a company, which happens to be my own.

- My accountant, a rather confusing person but seems to know the stuff, said that if I go in May the high salary for April and May I paid myself is enough and I can lower later and take dividends to reduce cost through social insurance but if I only get an appointment later I would need to keep salary high until I have the yellow slip. In this case August, which is also too late as I would be past the 4 months

--> I feel like I have no other choice as to take the agent appointment, pay the 250€ and move on. Would still be cheaper vs high social security cost to payroll a high salary for a few months more for paper trail that becomes obsolete from the day the yellow slip is issued.

Only advantage of higher salary for longer would be elegibility criteria should I need a mortgage with a Cypriot bank to buy property but Cypriot banks seem to not lend likely (compared to e.g. Spain, Portugal, etc.) and I keep reading they are to be avoided.

Tthank you!
