Flore Flore shirts and the new basics

It was my birthday last week, and my friend sent me money. She said to spend it on something I would otherwise never buy. So, I caved and bought one of the Flore Flore Car t-shirts that every fashion writer on Substack is talking about.

Unfortunately the fabric is great, and it does fit very well. (I say “unfortunately” because it’s a stupid price, and I can’t really buy more).

It actually reminds me of the Gap tshirts I used to wear in high school circa 1999. I know Gap is good again, but it’s not like it was. JCrew certainly isn’t either.

Where are the quality basics? It can’t be that we have to spend $115 to get the Gap quality tshirt of 1999. What am I missing? I’m talking about thicker ribbed jersey.
