Doable? 8000km roadtrip on a Volvo XC90
Just wanna check from someone with good roadtrip experience across Australia. I am a newbie for long roadtrips.
I am thinking about doing a roadtrip over 12 days during Winter. The routes I have in mind is Melbourne - Townsville (Mitchell Hwy) - Cairns - Uluru - Coober Pedy - Adelaide - Melbourne.
I own a 2008 Volvo XC90. It has been a completely robust & reliable car despite its age. However, the furthest I have driven is to Sydney and back(Melbourne) a few times, with no issue. Of course, I will send the car in to the workshop to make sure that it is in good health before I set-off. I plan to do minor mods inside to fit a inflatable bed, add a side awning and the baisc camping gears for cooking and other basic needs.
Ideally, I would like to stayover at RV parks wherever possible.
Any advice or insights are much appreciated to facilitate my planning.
