Vestibular migraines?
I am a 27F. Normal 3 day brain EEG in 2023 and recent normal 3 day May 11th-14th, 2026 brain EEG. 05/06/2025 brain MRI showed 46mm arachnoid brain cyst in right middle lobe of brain. Unchanged subtle FLAIR hyperintense signal in the right temporal lobe and hippocampus, favored to represent encephalomalacia and gliosis. Symptoms: random bouts of vertigo that feel as if I am moving forwards and back, or the feeling of falling vertigo (in my brain only, it effects my brain only), or the feeling of severe imbalance like I am on a rocking boat in an ocean. These events can last for a few seconds to over an hour at a time. Other symptoms: feeling like my eyes are being pressed hard into my eye sockets (uncomfortable), feeling like my brain is being squeezed (either brief or prolonged, uncomfortable but not severe headaches), feeling stabbing ice pick headaches at top of head (at random, these are worse and more painful, often have multiple flashes of light in corners of eye(s)), seeing flashes (like a camera flash) in corners of eyes (often soon after/before vertigo events), knees randomly jerk sometimes during events (I usually get spooked and react out of fear and try to grab the nearest object, also have been neurologically diagnosed with myoclonus jerks), vertigo gets severe at times and I have to have a bucket nearby my bed in case I start vomiting, for the vertigo is randomly very unrelenting and severe. Things that make it worse: dehydration, menstrual cycle, stress (like being yelled at), it seems more severe to me when I'm up on a ladder, lack of sleep, over sleep, medications even as benign as iron/d3 pills make it worse and different foods in my diet as well. Had multiple events during the 72 hour ambulatory EEG recording from May 11th, 2026 to May 14th, 2026. Had 5 vertigo events on first day of brain EEG, 19 vertigo events on second day of brain EEG,13 vertigo events on third day of brain eeg recording with normal brain EEG. No seizure activity. Doctor's office aggreed with my neurologist who agreed with my prior neurologist in 2023 who said the vertigo/flashes of light in my vision was potentially symptoms of vestibular migraines. Doctor's office prescribed AntiVert 25mg, Propranolol 10mg, Rizatriptan 10mg as approved treatment for presumed vestibular migraines by neurology. What should I expect with these meds? How long will they take to work? Any side effects I should be aware of? Do my symptoms even sound like vestibular migraines? I don't get headaches that often and when I do they aren't severe, they're just an unpleasant pressure in my eyes or head. I am only otherwise on Ferrous Gluconate for worsening anemia and Vitamin D3 for inadequate levels.
