Are there any Mitski songs that give you relief?

Despite the fact that “Heat Lightning” has a depressive connotation and is about how hard life is and all the shit the character in the song is going through, for them it feels like a storm (depression period???) that is approaching.

But when I’m at my lowest, I play this song and concentrate on the part:
“There’s nothing I can do
Not much I can change
I give it up to you, I surrender”

It makes me feel like: I can’t do anything, I just can’t change the situation I am in now. But I can just let things be and see what happens. And it gives me such a great feeling, such a relief.

Could y’all help me a bit. I love translating music, especially Mitski, and now I’m having a problem with interpreting “to paint it over” in the song “Why Didn’t You Stop Me?” from Be the Cowboy. I see it as meaning: to cover up problems, to ignore them, and to continue the relationship.
But I also found another interpretation: to forget what happened in the relationship, to end it and to move on.

I’d like to know how you interpret it!!🙏😔
