Tree struck by lightning? Or rotted?

Tree struck by lightning? Or rotted?

Storm yesterday snapped my tree in half and when I went to remove it from my other tree in hopes of saving it I noticed this black mark. I thought it looked kind of burnt but the winds were so strong I assumed thats what snapped it. I didn’t even hear the tree falling! This tree has 1 trunk but split into two in the middle. So in the picture you’re seeing where the two separate trunks meet in the middle.

I don’t think this is what it looks like when a tree is struck by lightning so I’m wondering if there was disease in this tree I didn’t know about? I think it’s a fir or spruce tree because it smells like Christmas and would have loved to use these for Christmas trees if they had broken during winter 😭
