Prep Instructions Sound and Now Feel Wrong
Had my first colonoscopy last year. Pretty standard miralax + Gatorade prep protocol. Had a few polyps removed and received a Chron's diagnosis. Had to switch practices due to first GI failing to follow up on medication regimen.
New GI doctor's protocol seems extreme. Has ANYONE seen anything like this before?
3 Days before procedure: Eat normal, but with two x daily laxative doses: 10 mg ducolax + cap full of miralax, spaced out by four hours.
2 Days before procedure: Low residue diet + prior 2x per day laxative doses.
1 Day before procedure: Liquid diet (standard) followed by: 1. 10 gm bottle of mag citrate plus 10 mg ducolax. 2. 3 pm, another 10 gm bottle of mag citrate + ducolax. 3. 2 quarts of golytely. 4. Three gas x before bed.
My scope is tomorrow at 9:30. I've followed the protocol to the T, and my bowel movements have been clear yellow liquid since around noon. About to start the Golytely. Feels like taking the Golytely at this post is overkill / unnecessary / likely to cause harm.
All of which is a long way of saying...Has anyone seen a prep protocol this intense? Is this practice bonkers or am I a wuss?;My bowels are clear and my behind is sore, and I can't help but feel Golytely is unnecessary at this point.
Update: Got halfway through first glass of Golytely before I had to get up to once again rapidly expel 8 oz of clear yellow water out my rectum. Why on earth do I need
