Does O-1 Visa Validity Start From Approval Date or Requested Start Date if USCIS Delays?
What happens if USCIS takes too long and your O-1 petition and goes past the intended start date? Do you lose that time, or if you requested the full 3 years does the 3-year period start from the approval date instead?
For example, if you requested validity from June 2026–June 2029 but USCIS doesn’t approve until September 2026, would the approval still run until June 2029 or would it shift to September 2029?
