Considering getting back to Chemical engineering jobs in UK

Have a BSc in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering. But its 9 years old. I have worked in bioengineering research labs and NHS cancer research engagement roles. A couple of years wasted due to changing country of residence twice + covid.

Now, I am thinking about getting back to the Chemical/process Engineering. Is it possible? Any suggestions how to? Where to start?

Career pivot into QS

Background: BSc Chemical Engineering; NHS data role for 2 years (Excel, Power BI, reporting). Currently between roles. Long-term goal is MRICS via an accredited MSc QS, realistically starting 2028.

In the meantime I want to use the next 18 months to build a foundation, ideally by getting a foot in the construction industry. Based in the North West.

What's an attainable route? Open to doing short courses.

Appreciate any honest takes, especially from people who came from non-cognate backgrounds.

Non-cognate route to QS — does it hold up in Saudi Arabia

Career changer here. Background: Bsc Chemical Engineering + 4 years NHS (data analyst). Planning RICS-accredited Conversion QS MSc + UK experience + MRICS, with the long-term goal of moving to Saudi Arabia.

My question is specifically about the KSA market, not the UK:

Do Saudi employers (Mace, T&T, AECOM, local PMCs, Aramco contractors) actually accept MRICS-qualified QSs with a non-cognate first degree? Or does the Saudi Council of Engineers / SCE accreditation process filter you out at the visa/professional registration stage because your bachelor's isn't in QS or a construction-related discipline?

Anyone been through SCE membership with a non-cognate background — did MRICS + MSc carry you through, or was the undergrad a hard block?

Cheers.
