Places from Mishima’s novels that I visited in Japan
- The Kinkaku-ji from The Temple of the Golden Pavilion obviously.
- Kenkun-jinja, where Mizoguchi sees a monk smoking
- Nanzen-ji, where Mizoguchi sees a woman out breast milk in tea
- Ōmiwa-jinja, where Honda meets Isao. This is also one of the oldest Shinto shrines
- Tried to find the specific waterfall where Honda and Isao meet, but idk if it’s actually this one.
- Enshō-ji, the inspiration for Satoko’s monastery
- Not related to Mishima, but Enshō-ji was in this super rural part of Nara and the grass was crazy to me.
Also went to a bookstore with a bunch of his memorabilia, including some of his letters.
