Want another cat/kitten but what if my current one doesn't like it?
I have a 3.5 year old British Shorthair and love her so much. Sometimes it feels like she's a cat, dog and human all mixed into one. Only regret I have is not buying one of her siblings when I got her as a kitten!
Anyway I really want to get another cat, mainly so that she has someone to keep her company as I do shift work and so does my wife. Other reason being the obvious I just love cats, but also because I'm her favourite person and she treats me very differently to my wife, and would love for her to be another cat's favourite person.
I would get a kitten, most likely another BrSh, but the only thing that worries me is what if my current cat doesn't like it, or doesn't accept it? Is this a common issue? Or do they just need time?
I know nobody can predict how my cat would behave, but is it more likely it would all be ok or the opposite? Anyone have experience getting a kitten to join their cat?
