Asylum interview experience
I wanted to share my experience with my asylum interview. I applied in November 2025, and my interview was scheduled for December 2025. I’ve been waiting for the decision ever since. The interview lasted over three hours plus 3 hours waiting time prior to the interview. Because I submitted additional evidence and the officer was reviewing it before the interview. Throughout the interview, the officer listened carefully but didn't show much emotion. I didn’t get a break either. The officer was focused on verifying my case’s credibility and consistency, asking many detailed questions about timelines and events. Officer even asked some trick questions about the timeline, but I was able to answer consistently. At the end, the officer mentioned that the decision would be mailed out and there are two possibilities: one is my case gets approved or it gets denied and referred to the immigration court. What made me a bit anxious was when the officer said that if my case is denied, I should carefully read the reasons on the paper, and that the decision now requires a supervisor’s review. I’m from one of the 75 countries.
