This past month has been eye opening. I've been dropshipping on depop on and off for the past 6 months but recently just cracked the code but now everything is going downhill. I have done around 14k cad in revenue in the the past month at about 27% net profit margins dropshipping clothes from aliexpress. Mind you this is technically only revenue from a two week cycle as that is when I really got serious about this) Caveat, I now I hate what I've created. Here is what I've learned so far and what I am still learning as I go on. This post is not about selling you anything, nor will I be be sharing my front end and tactics. I am looking for someone possibly facing the same constraints as me. However I will tell you a couple of points in terms of what I have learned so far.
When you find a winning product, you really find a winning product. I was doing about 60 sales a day from it. I was buying it on aliexpress for $21 and selling it for $35
Only accepted Paypal as I am in Canada but selling in the states (don't ask me how I worked around this, took some problem solving). This allowed me to be fully liquid as I got the money as soon as the customer would pay.
People pay for the service rather than the item. You need to be proactive and message the people right after they purchase, ask them how they like the item once it arrives and if they're willing to leave you a review.
AI is limitless, Use it to your advantage for listings You have infinite leverage
Make a cohesive boutique like store and people will be willing to checkout with 2+ items at a time. My average order value was around $50
Scaling on depop SUCKS (this is where I am right now) I over night became the 127th seller on the app and the amount of volume I was moving was insane. This brings us to our problem. There is no proper auto fulfilment integration for the app and you'll be responding to a ton of messages. I tried to hire a developer to build me a tool but right when the tried to log into my account from a different country I got suspended. That spooked me out and upon reading further online, depop hates bots or anything automated and will find, and ban you. I scrapped this idea. I am instead in the process of working with a virtual assistant to help me clear the backlog but he seems to be taking his sweet time. Funny enough when I hired him he said he had just gotten another inquiry of someone else in my exact position (hoping he's able to connect me with him). I currently feel stuck in my own constructed quick sand with no way out with all this tedious messaging and fulfilling that I have to do.
If anyone has any solutions to this or has been in a similar situation words of wisdom are highly encouraged
