How to deal with persistent messaging?

Idk if this is the right flair or not, but yeah, I need help.

So someone had approached me in my message board asking me to consider putting their original character into my fic. Now I might be giving out slow updates but I already have my story outlined and planned out.

So I decided to ignore them for a while, but they also commented to check the idea out. Then I politely declined the offer. However they are still asking me to reconsider it, saying that they can help me integrate the character, etc.

Now as much as I appreciate the engagement they are giving (reading, voting, commenting), I also care about my boundaries as a writer.

Please tell me what I should do🥺. Should I stay silent, block them, be curt with my response? Idk I am confused (true to my username ig 😅)

200 reads?!!! (Insert happy tomato noises)

Tbh I didn't expect even 100 reads and 5 votes because of the fandom and the fantasy genre😭😭😭

(If you are curious, swipe for the name of the fanfic)

Please motivate me to write

Everyone please channel your favourite wp character and motivate me to finally start writing the overdue chapter. It's been two weeks since I have typed one out 😭

PS. The pic is probably my one loyal reader right now 😿

Where do you draw the line?

THIS IS NOT A RANT. THE PARAGRAPH IS ADDED FOR CONTEXT BECAUSE A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE IS DANGEROUS.

There are a lot of tropes prevalent across fiction, especially the romance genre, which fall in the thin line between being okay and being problematic. Often times, it depends on the reader's perspective, their personal knowledge, upbringing, experience, what opinions they are getting exposed to in day to day life. These factors influence our opinions on a particular trope, and we either find it extremely problematic that should not be normalised, or we are not bothered by it and consider it a part of creative liberty. More often than not, this creates a discord among readers, and this pattern is noticeable in the comments of posts containing promotional reel screenshots.

So, what are some tropes or elements that you think writers can freely explore, ones they should approach cautiously, and ones (if any) that should not be added at all in their works?

What are some unique things you have googled for your books?

Since we can't rant this weekend, let's have some fun.

Share some unique questions (apart from info about a place or outfit) regarding research for your stories that you have asked Google or any AI chatbot.

In my case, recently I have looked up some first aid procedures so that I could write it out as accurately as possible (no my FF is not related to anyone in the medical field)

Those who were telling me why I don't promote my FF, it's because of cheesy lines like this 😭

The ultimate question: should memes be allowed in this sub?

Hi everyone. I am providing you a free space to argue about this topic all you want, instead of spamming a poor person's post comments which had nothing to do with the topic of memes.

The comment section is open (unless mods remove this post)

Reading books is bittersweet

Ok, study goals complete for today, let's read something.

I sit with my cup of green tea and open Wattpad. I check out one of the books lying on my reading list and getting dusty(metaphorically).

I scroll through the chapters, highly impressed with the writing of the author. Feeling the emotions of the characters to my core. And then, my thoughts spiral.

I keep comparing the plot to the plot of my book, even though the genre is completely different.

What if my original characters are not as realistic as these characters? What if my writing style is not as good? What if I get accused of using AI because I might have made the canon characters too different? Will my story hit readers in the same way (if there are any at all)?

I take a sip of the tea. Cold. Bitter. The taste lingers in my mouth.

Then I open reddit, hoping to distract myself. Instead, the first post that I see is one raving about a story of a similar genre as mine. Praising how well the characters were handled, how awesome the plot is and how it focuses on real issues with fantasy included.

Should I even continue writing? I personally feel like the plot I have planned is peak, but my writing feels mediocre and amateurish. No one will ever read it, because my idiot a$$ decided to pick up a niche under a niche category. Who in the right mind would do that?

I lock my phone. Finish my tea. Still pondering about the same thing. Breathe in some fresh air at the balcony.

All of a sudden, I feel a sting on my leg.

"F***ing mosquito," I curse out and try to smash it, but it escapes.

Will I ever be able to escape the negative web of my mind?

(Pls don't report me for inserting meme in this post 😭, this is just a personal rant)

Experienced people pls tell me if this is a bot

I checked the profile and they are giving a whatsapp number (international one) and a discord link to anyone messaging them. Is this legit or another spam?

Moral of the story: put a weird af tag then you can find your book in the rankings

(Pls don't ask me for the book name mujhe shy aa raha hai 🫣)

Edit: aa gaye judge karne wale downvote lekar😈
