Tired of Getting Trucked
I pitch in my coed USA rec leagues. This usually leads to me covering home plate on plays at the plate. I'm pretty sick of dudes thinking it's reasonable to tackle me at home plate because they're too afraid to slide. Been happening every few fans the past few months and I've been getting pretty beat up. Had to go to the ER today to get x-rays, due to a hit yesterday, and while thankfully nothing is broken I cannot currently use my glove hand. I don't stand in a particularly unsafe position, I try to set up in front of the plate in fair territory, similar to an MLB catcher. Is there anything I can do other than just let them score? Are there specific rules not being enforced that I should bring up with the league? Often these guys would probably score and wouldn't hurt me if they just slid, and I'm pretty hot about it right now.
Edit: I'm only getting hit when I have the ball, and am making a tag. Nearly all of these plays result in outs. Im not standing in the baseline, but still have to get close enough to homeplate to make a play.
