Questions around my termination of employment

Alright so before I begin, I’m not trying to get this job back because in the bigger picture I realise it was absolutely awful to work there, considering only working there for a little over 5 months and the efforts/loyalty I made during having little to no experience

But for context, my role was a warehousing & admin hybrid role for an automotive company managing 3 different states via 3PL for freight/dispatch and order collections. Sales via phone and walk ins, service and warranty calls, picking orders for our local warehouse and other admin & warehousing duties. All for 60k/yr… at 18/19 years old

Last friday 9/10. 10 minutes before my shift ended, I had my manager come to my desk and handed me a termination of employment sheet. Saying that day was my last shift and I’m no longer working there. I was absolutely taken back as I had no idea as to why I could have been fired while absolutely nothing struck out to me. My manager said that I was getting fired due to a worry of lack in continuing progression throughout my role.

Now the reason why I want to take this to fair work is that I was pressured into all my duties within my role, around 1-2 months into first joining. We were a warehouse team of 3 then one of the colleagues with 2 years experience quit and never came back. My manager was surprised that I didn’t leave them too due to the workload so soon. I was then expected to take on 7-8 different duties independently without any form of legitimate training. Skill development was make a mistake, ask questions and work from there. So yes mistakes were made here and there but I was catching on to new systems/softwares and processes quite rapidly. We had then had an extended amount of growth within the business and my independent duties required more attention than others included due to urgency. Which made my workload increasingly difficult. I would ask for help but the warehouse was that busy, there was no legitimate time for extra training to be carried out. Often times was getting congratulated for my efforts and hard work during the really busy periods.

I had spoken with my manager about reconsidering the decision as I had stuck with them through the thick of it being only 2 staff in the warehouse (not even 3 months experience) and that continual best efforts was carried out on my work day by day (plenty of great reviews from customers). During that conversation, there was a lot of discrepancies regarding the exact reason for termination, points they made I followed up asking for proof and none was to be shown. I had also had NO documented conversations regarding performance or anything outlining a risk to my employment if no improvements were made, nothing was spoken by mouth either. I was told that I would hear a final verdict over the weekend and got nothing back from them. Which wasn’t far from expected.

Unfortunately being a company of under 15 people across Brisbane and Melbourne, I cannot report this to fair work as I only worked there for 5 months.

Is there any other options regarding taking this further?

Edit: I am getting payed a week worth but still feel that it’s a very unfair play, I did also find that they opened the position on Seek 17 days ago.

Minor accident compensation

So I was involved in a very minor accident yesterday.

It was at a parking strip alongside the road in Broadbeach QLD. I was parked, a bike parked behind me and a car in front. My car doesn’t have the best turning circle and didnt have the most room to get out. I reversed but couldn’t see the bike in my rear view mirror and it toppled over

The bike was damaged cosmetically. Like fairings scratches with a minor crack, right bar end, brake levers, clutch cover, and minor scuffs on the muffler.

I’m currently uninsured as I’m in the process of changing & shopping insurers. We came to an agreement that I was to compensate for bar end, fairings, & brake levers, although knowing other parts were damaged In the topple over. We shook hands and left it at that then parted ways after exchanging details. Entire conversation & agreement was caught by CCTV & witnesses present.

I understand I am at fault and liable here. He tried to include the clutch cover within the quote of repairs but after mentioning our agreement he said that he’ll exclude it but will add rear grab handles and mirrors.

And I still feel that I shouldn’t have to cover for something that wasn’t agreed upon in person. Just want a different viewpoint as much as I am liable I feel that I still withhold the right to stand on the agreement we made in person and shook hands on because other damages were inspected and were mutually left out of my list of things to compensate for?

Let me know what the best route of actions are, I don’t want to escalate the issue but also don’t want my wallet absolutely drained from having to pay for way more than what I was settled in for

Edit: 90% of the comments are saying that I have to pay for all expenses but my main concern here is the owner & myself observed the bike for quite some time (20-30mins) mind you the bike wasn’t in pristine condition and he stated it had high mileage and the wear of the bike represented it. pointing out where the damage was we came to an agreement of what to pay and what NOT to compensate for. He openly told me he flips bikes for profit so this was going to bite at him which is more than understandable.

In this quote I received there was a lot more ‘damaged’ parts than we observed going from what we saw originally roughly around $500-$600 worth to then jumping up to $2270, so I’m left wondering what if some of these damages listed are not what I’m actually liable for and is using for his profit? There was damage on both sides of the bike yet it only fell to one side and some of the parts listed I’m afraid are on the other side also. Which is why I have the raised suspicions that maybe he’s getting me to pay for more than my duties owed. And really my only intent is what do I do in this scenario when I have raised suspicions that I might have to cover for more than the damages I caused?

I will repeat again, I am not evading repairs I need to make but part of me thinks that something just doesn’t add up.
