Is the Teachers Education Scholarship worth it?

Hi everyone! I'm starting a masters of teaching next year and I'm considering whether the scholarship is worth it or not.

I would obviously like the money but I don't want to get stuck in a three year contract at a school I hate. I'm not scared of low socioeconomic schools, I literally come from a shitty public high school in the West...it's just the idea of being stuck freaks me out. I also am wondering if the Masters of Teaching (at UNSW) will make me more competitive in finding a job at a good school (although I do want to stay in the public school system). Also I am considering if going to a "worse" school would help my chance of career advancement and climbing the ladder? Lots of things to consider so any guidance is valued and appreciated!!

MySydney Scholarship?

Hey guys! Do you know if next sem I only do 3 units (18 total) will I still be eligible to get the entirety of the scholarship?

Also I plan on early exiting a course 6 months early mid way next year. Would I still get the first portion of the scholarship or would it be null because I'm not completing a full 4th year (I will still be graduating except instead of 2 degrees in 4 years, I'll be finishing 1 degree double major in 3.5)

Thanks for any input!

I’m having a really hard time with one of my classes and I’m considering discontinue failing it * and changing part of my degree. Who / what services should I contact via the uni?

I’m really lost (I’ve already put in a meeting with wellbeing but it’s so delayed) and sorely need some advice.

*before anyone asks I’m pretty sure I’ve already failed this class and I just know I can’t catch up at this point.

Hi!

I’m having a really hard time in one of my courses and am very likely to fail it. However, I have been considering partially changing degrees (I’m doing an Advanced Degree / Arts Degree and I’m heavily considering dropping to just an arts degree). If I change my degree and pick a new minor to accompany my Arts Major will my Fail impact my final WAM?

I’m deeply considering going into a Masters of Teaching after finishing up my previous arts degree as I’ve decided this career direction is more suited for me (and reliable as journalism is super cut-throat) than my previous career plan. I’m eligible for the masters and have always considered teaching so I’ve been doing extra research into it.

I’m curious on whether the initial pay for salary increases if you have a masters? From NSW btw!

Hi all,

I’m currently in my 1st semester of my 3rd year doing a an advanced degree (politics) / arts degree (English) with 3 semesters left after this one.

I really don’t enjoy a lot my politics degree and am starting to feel like I don’t see any career prospects in it. My grades prove that maybe honours isn’t for me and I’m worried about how I’ll fare if I chose the internship / practical component next year. I honestly don’t really underhand how next year is structured.

Next sem is my final sem of my English major, which I prefer.

I’m starting to get interested in education as a future prospect. I’m wondering if it would be worth considering swapping majors or if I should see this major through and then if I don’t enjoy the career prospects come back to do a masters of education.

If I go into education I would defintely like to climb the ladder but I don’t know if the masters idea is as good…

If anyone knows who I should go to talk about this that would also be very helpful!!! I’ve never had to communicate to anyone outside of my unit coordinators so I’m very lost.

Any insight is very helpful! Thx!
