I live in sydney and have a experience climbing in indoor gyms, but I've never been outdoors to climb.

I'm going through the process of joining fire nsw, and want to eventually go into the USAR rescue teams.

I want to try canyoning / absailing as an ebtry point, and have had a brief look into doing guided tours.

I work alot and may not have alot of time to join a bush walking group and be able to commit to it, but I'm just wondering what first steps people take to get to a point where they can go canyoning, not as part of a paid group?
