Kelp Audiobook Player - iOS inspired Android app

Hey everyone! I’m the developer of Kelp, an Android audiobook player for people who keep their own audiobook files.

Plans for audiobookshelf integration are on the roadmap!

You can import files or folders, organize your library, and listen with saved progress, adjustable playback speed, chapters, and sleep timers. It supports MP3, M4B, and other common audio formats.

Basic listening is free. The optional Kelp Pro upgrade is $4.99 USD for lifetime access in the US, with regional pricing elsewhere. Pro includes collections, metadata editing, listening stats, backup and restore, and additional playback options. No subscription.

Some listeners have been helping me test it with larger libraries and complicated folder structures, and their feedback has been really useful.

If you listen to local audiobooks, I’d love to hear what matters most to you in a player—especially how you organize your books and what makes importing a library frustrating.

You can find Kelp and the Google Play link here:

Happy to answer questions, and thanks to anyone who gives it a try!

Currents: An open-source Reddit client for Android

Hey everyone,

I recently moved from iOS to Android and one of the things I missed was having a Reddit client that felt polished, fast, and comfortable to use. I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for, so I decided to build it myself.

I’ve tried to keep the interface clean without removing useful information. You can choose between compact feeds and larger previews, change the text size, move thumbnails, customize the action buttons, and adjust quite a few other parts of the app.

Navigation is also heavily gesture-based. Posts and comments have configurable swipe actions, and swiping from anywhere along the right edge opens the community menu. This was one of the interactions I really wanted to get right.

Currents currently supports:

  • Home, Popular, All, saved posts, communities, profiles, and search
  • Voting, saving, hiding, reporting, subscribing, posting, and replying
  • Compact and large-preview feed layouts
  • Nested comments with colored thread lines and collapse controls
  • Video, GIF, gallery, audio, zoom, and media-saving support
  • Customizable swipe actions and action buttons
  • Keyword, community, and author filters
  • Read history, hide-read mode, and saved post drafts
  • Phone and two-pane tablet layouts
  • Themes, text controls, haptics, and other appearance settings
  • Encrypted account-token storage using Android Keystore

There are no ads, fake posts, or tracking services in the app.

One important thing to know before installing it: Currents does not come with a Reddit API Client ID, and I don’t have one to provide. The Client ID field starts blank. You’ll need to create and enter your own installed-app Client ID, User-Agent, and redirect URI before signing in.

The project is still new, and I’m posting it because I’d like to get feedback from people using different Android devices. I’d especially like to hear about crashes, confusing parts of the interface, media that doesn’t play correctly, or features that would make the app more useful.

The APK is available through GitHub Releases, and the full source code is available in the same repository under the MIT License.

Built a free tool that grades every team in your league and finds trades that actually make sense for both sides plus more - AdvantEdgeHQ

Commissioner of a 10-team league for a few years now, and the two recurring headaches were (1) nobody has a real read on who's actually good vs. just riding a hot record, and (2) trade talk in the group chat is 90% "give me your best player" nonsense that goes nowhere. Built a tool to fix both, it snowballed into a full site, it's free and there's no login wall.

www.advantedgehq.com

The two pieces that are actually relevant here:

League Power Rankings. Syncs your whole Sleeper league and grades every team by actual roster talent, not just win-loss record, then flags teams as over- or underperforming based on the gap between their record and their real roster strength. Good for settling "are they actually good" arguments before they start, and it's a built-in conversation starter for the league chat every week.

Trade Finder. Pick another team and it suggests specific trades that fill a real need on both sides, not just "send me your best guy." It's looking at actual roster construction (who's thin where, who's stacked where), not just raw player value.

Both of those plus a Trade Calculator, Waiver Wire tool, and Start/Sit assistant all run off the same underlying model, so a team's grade in Power Rankings and its needs in Trade Finder are never talking past each other. Same math everywhere.

Free, no login, no ads. Not trying to sell anyone anything. Still a side project so there are definitely edge cases I haven't hit, if a league's settings make it spit out something dumb, genuinely want to know.

I built a fantasy draft board that adjusts to your exact league: AdvantEdgeHQ

Wanted to talk about my new website AdvantEdgeHQ (www.advantedgehq.com), the draft board I've been working on creating for myself and others!

You plug in your league's scoring and roster settings and it builds you a custom "Edge Score" for every player, so you're seeing who's actually valuable in YOUR league instead of some generic top 200 list.

Here's what I've added:

Live Sleeper sync. Paste your Sleeper draft link in and the board updates in real time as picks come off the board, no more manually clicking guys off yourself. Works with mock drafts too, and I fixed an annoying bug where mocks weren't pulling your real league scoring/roster settings.

Real Superflex data. Superflex leagues make QBs way more valuable, and I was originally just estimating how much with a formula since I didn't have real market data for it. Got my hands on an actual Superflex ADP dataset and rebuilt the QB rankings around it, so now they reflect where quarterbacks are actually getting drafted in 2-QB leagues instead of my best guess.

Mobile support. The site actually works on a phone now. Tables, buttons, everything. A ton of people draft from their phones so this felt overdue.

Top Rookie badge. Tags the rookies with the best current ADP so they're easy to spot instead of scrolling around trying to remember who's actually a rookie.

Import your league settings straight from Sleeper. You don't even need a draft going for this one. Type your Sleeper username, and it'll pull your league's scoring and roster settings in automatically (if you're in more than one league it'll ask which one). No more manually punching in your PPR settings and roster spots by hand every time.

More transparency, less "just trust me." Added a little timestamp showing exactly when the projections and ADP data were last pulled, so you're not left wondering if you're looking at stale numbers. Also added a breakdown that shows exactly how each player's Edge Score was calculated, instead of just handing you a number and asking you to trust it.

Sort by whatever matters to you. You can now sort the whole board by Edge Score, ADP, or Value directly, instead of just scrolling through one fixed order.

Also cleaned up some UI stuff and killed a couple features that I thought would be useful but just ended up being noise once I actually used them during a draft.

The core of the tool is still:

  • Edge Score (Value Over Replacement + Value Over Next Available) for a real, mathematical read on player value at your pick
  • Superflex support that adjusts the whole board when you add a Superflex slot
  • Handcuff and Stack badges — draft your RB1, his backup gets flagged; draft your QB, his receivers get flagged, and vice versa
  • Tiers based on actual point drop-offs in the data, not someone's opinion
  • Boom/Consistency toggles to lean rankings toward upside or toward safe volume
  • A value tracker that flags players falling past their normal draft slot
  • Bye week conflict warnings as you build your roster
  • Injury/suspension flags pulled in automatically

Still actively working on this, so let me know what's useful and what's not.

Based on the earlier theme of VHS covers I created some (using AI Gemini) for my studio's collections. Mostly for my kids.
