Returning Collector / Which Boxes To Open?
Hey everyone, returning collector here after being out of Yu-Gi-Oh for a long time.
I’m mainly interested in the original Duel Monsters era and opening products for nostalgia/fun rather than competitive play. My absolute max budget for a single booster box is around $150, but ideally looking to buy multiple products that exceed that range all together.
Right now I’m leaning heavily toward:
- The 25th Anniversary reprint boxes (*LOB, MRD, PSV, IOC, etc.)
- Retro Packs
Mostly because they seem like the safest way to relive the old-school experience without spending crazy money on vintage sealed product.
I’m NOT interested in modern archetypes, Link/Xyz-heavy stuff, or competitive/meta cards.
Purely chasing old-school DM-era nostalgia: Blue-Eyes, Dark Magician, Toons, Egyptian Gods, IOC chaos-era cards, etc.
Are there any other booster boxes, tins, or collections you’d recommend in that price range for a returning DM-era collector?
Also curious:
- Which of the 25th reprint boxes are the most fun to open?
- Any hidden gems I might be overlooking?
