Non-local Skillbridge during MEB question
Just wanted to see if anyone else has been in this boat and what y'all may have done.
I'm currently in an MEB and at the halfway point. All exams are done and awaiting the fit/unfit determination (knowing it will be unfit) and PEB to follow. I'm trying like hell to job search since I'll be out of the Army in 5ish months (according to PEBLO).
I'm looking at going through a Skillbridge opportunity where I'm going to move to post-Army, not within my current 50 mile radius. The PEBLO office immediately said no and that MEB soldiers "can't go on TDY" and then pointed to their local memo that said MEB soldiers "should not go on TDY". The memo references 635-40, which also does not support a full TDY ban.
I've told my chain of command about the issue and they seem somewhat lukewarm on trying to get a signature for the packet given the PEBLO's sticking point and ETP refusal.
Has anyone else been in the same boat or able to secure a non-local Skillbridge opportunity while going through an MEB? It just doesn't seem helpful to pursue something local knowing I'm moving across the country as soon as I'm out.
