There’s a Zen Buddhist saying about enlightenment:
Before enlightenment: chop wood, carry water.
After enlightenment: chop wood, carry water.
The ME/CFS version is:
Before PEM: lie in bed and do nothing.
During PEM: lie in bed and do nothing
After PEM: lie in bed and do nothing.
