I feel like these photos don’t do my scars justice but my cheeks have several dents in them. I’m so self conscious about them, I don’t want to leave the house. I already spoke to a dermatologist but she just wants to do PRP microneedling, but that isn’t possible as I have active acne. She said my scars are shallow but honestly, depending on the lighting I really feel like my scars are deeper than they seem.

Could anyone suggest anything based on their personal experience? I have very very sensitive skin, and I believe I’ve already had one TCA peel…

Additional info: most scars are 6 months old, but some of them are fresh. :/

I’ve been doing a lot of research into microneedling and I’m honestly a bit terrified as someone with suspected hEDS and quite thin, sensitive skin.

In the past, I’ve reacted to lasers with breakouts — sometimes pretty bad — though my derm has said that’s normal. I also currently have active acne, so I can’t start yet, but she’s recommended microneedling with PRP once it calms down to treat my scarring.

My concern is that my scars (mostly rolling scars) seem more noticeable than before, and I can’t tell if previous treatments may have made them worse or if I’m just overanalysing. They’re especially visible under certain lighting/angles.

So I guess my question is: is microneedling actually worth it for someone with thin, sensitive skin (and possible hEDS)? I worry my derm may be biased since I’ve already paid for the treatment.

Edit: I’ve seen suggestions about doing a patch test on another part of the body first — how long would you typically wait to assess the response before deciding if it’s safe to proceed on the face?
