How do you handle handwritten notes (possibly in Obsidian) without Excalidraw?
After using Obsidian for the past four years, I have to say that this software has been an absolute joy to use. It has reshaped the way I think about and manage my digital files.
Finance in Markdown (HLedger), tasks in a simple workflow (TaskNotes), photo management through self-hosting (Immich, TagStudio, ExifTool), in short: files over apps.
That being said, I still have yet to find a good way to create and manage digital drawings.
Whether this should live inside Obsidian or not, I don’t know. I’m simply looking for an effective and simple way to do maths/physics exercises. Embedding PDFs (like in the Excalidraw plugin) would be amazing. Excalidraw, despite its amazing nature, feels at time clunky to work with on iPad.
Is there any software or workflow that aligns with a file-first approach? That’s the philosophy I’m trying to follow. I suspect an SVG-based solution might do the trick. I don’t need complex features.
I’d love to hear your ideas; I might be overthinking it, and maybe the solution is as simple as “any good app → PDF.”
