Swapped the stock awl and flathead driver on my ARC for the awl and flathead from a FREE T2. The T2 tools are quite a bit bigger and fit surprisingly well in the ARC.
Pretty simple mod overall and I definitely prefer the bigger tools.
I’m rebuilding a Leatherman Signal and I’m stuck on the lock bar. I removed both the inside-tool pivot and the plier-head pivot, but I never disassembled the awl/can opener/bit driver stack. The leaf spring is still riveted in place and appears to have tension, the lock bar lays perfectly flat and doesn’t appear bent, and I have both bronze washers and all the original hardware. I can press the lock bar down onto the small round boss in the handle by hand, but as soon as I reinstall the plier head and pivot, it won’t stay retained in the channel. At one point I had the knife and saw locking correctly while the awl, can opener, and bit driver wouldn’t lock, but after taking it back apart I can’t get the lock bar to stay in place consistently. Has anyone completely rebuilt a Signal and know exactly how the lock bar is retained during reassembly, or have photos of the lock bar installed with the plier head removed?
