Potentially adopting a fold, concerned about health issues
My partner and I are looking to get a second cat, and just met this amazingly sweet 7mo scottish fold male. He is in a foster home and was surrendered by a breeder, whom I know very little about. Foster mom said all she knows is that he supposedly has a purebred scottish fold father, and that he was imported from Ukraine. She said the breeder surrendered him and his brother because they both had anal prolapse, requiring surgery, he was unable to afford it. I also noticed he has a kinked tail. We both loved him and would love to take him home, but I am concerned he will be a really costly pet in the long run and don't want to have to surrender him over finances like his last home. Is it worth the gamble? How likely is it that this kitten is cursed to a lifetime of health complications? I would love to take him regardless and not treat him as damaged goods, but I unfortunately have to consider the financial burden too.
