Image 1 — while i was on a walk i found what appeared to be a black piece of wood poking outta the ground and when i picked it up it didnt feel like wood at all, there were no other pieces near it and at a closer inspection i think it may be a bone. any ideas as to what it belonged too?

found in new england. its def not wood bc its very dense and has a flake off one of the ends. i think it may be some sort of rib bone or maybe an antler? it has a crack down the entirety of its side. if anyone needs more info ill be happy to share :3
