I’m a sophomore in a pre SLP program but my gpa is really low, like a 3.0 right now. I struggled with a depressive episode my freshman year & making the change from high school to college. I almost lost my fafsa funding, but now I’ve gotten it up.

I’m going into what’s supposed to be my junior year and I don’t know if I should take extra semesters to get my gpa up or keep going.

My extracurriculars are pretty strong I think.

- 2 years working in childcare, making curriculum, stem initiatives, got promoted to supervisor after one year

- 2x Americorps education award recipient & hopefully another next year

- CNA license & I work part time at a nursing home over summers & some PRN

- I just got a job doing ABA therapy & they’ll pay for me to get my RBT

- I own a small business teaching CPR & First Aid which has taught me a lot. I do everything & even made the website by myself.

- 1 year experience being a substitute teacher

- in highschool I worked at an old folks home for 3 years

- I got an award for my work on neurodivergent friendly lesson plans this year from my college

- 1 publication in a yearly book of the best student works from that year (not much but it is online )

- I’m on a leadership council for college students with my school where we plan volunteer projects & community outreach (I won’t say the name to keep this acc anonymous but it’s a recognized thing)

I am really passionate about helping people & I think that pediatric speech therapy is really what I want to do but I struggle most with classwork. I can lead people & run a business by myself but it’s grueling to turn in an assignment. I’ve gotten a lot better since last year but I’m struggling to decide if I should just keep going or retake all my classes with C’s & D’s.

I think it would take about an extra year, but I have a life & partner & I don’t want to be stuck behind while everyone else is moving on.

I also recently got diagnosed with ADHD & Autism which I think played a big part into why the transition to college was so hard for me.

Would my essays & extracurriculars carry me if I apply going forward?

If anyone has any advice pls lmk. Sorry if this is a confusing layout I’m on mobile.
