Studying abroad in England - any tips?

Hello all, I am studying abroad in England this fall for a semester. I have been doing as much research as I can, but am curious to hear any tips or suggestions you may have. If you have any research resources you recommend, I appreciate that as well!

Tips for navigating gluten allergy during study abroad In England

Hi all. I have a gluten allergy that is not classified as celiac by my doctor, however I get severe reactions that can range anywhere from chest pain to full on anaphylaxis. Its very important that I avoid eating gluten, however I am not as limited as those with celiac. Light cross contamination usually does not bother me so long as there aren't actual gluten ingredients in the food.

I will be studying abroad in England this fall, and plan to travel around the UK and Europe while I'm there.

I've been doing lots research about travel there because I don't want to do anything that could be disrespectful, and I don't want to be another dumb, loud American who is culturally incompetent. I am worried that by constantly trying to find gluten free options and asking about them, I will be just that. I don't want to be disrespectful or annoying to anyone, and I have had some difficulty finding information on the topic.

Do you guys have any tips or insights on eating gluten free in England (also interested if you have tips for the rest of UK and other European countries but mainly England) and on how to either find out the information I need ahead of time or ask in a way that is not annoying?

Thank you so much!

Also I apologize if this isn't the appropriate subreddit, I wasn't sure where to post this, so if I should be posting somewhere else pls lmk! 💕
