So I was invited to the England vs. Ghana World Cup game at Gillette Stadium with my brother in law who is from England and a giant England supporter. Problem for me is that I’ve always really liked Ghana and always rooted against England (even though I’m American and a USMNT fan).
I really would like to acquire a Ghana jersey and go all out in support of them during the game but I have two concerns:
is this too disrespectful to my brother in law who knows I’m not a true Ghana fan and I don’t have any actual ties to the country? I will probably discuss this with him beforehand to gauge his feelings on this anyway.
Will I risk drawing negative attention to myself from England fans at the game by wearing a Ghana jersey?
