Getting Bluelink-style data out of my Ioniq 5 for free after the subscription runs out

Bluelink's 5-year free period ends eventually and I didn't fancy paying a sub just to see SoC and charging history. Picked up a MeatPi WiCAN-OBD (~£40), plugged it into the OBD port, and it now streams data to a little server at home over wifi whenever the car's on the drive.

What I'm logging, totally free, with no Hyundai account involved:

Live SoC %

State of Health %

12V battery voltage (the one that actually strands you)

Cumulative kWh charged / discharged over the car's life

Every journey: start/end SoC, kWh used, kWh regenerated, duration

Every charge session: kWh added, average kW, duration

VIN + odometer

The 12V reading is genuinely useful too

Next im looking at using my phone as a wifi hot-spot to capture data live.

Once Bluelink lapses, the subscription gate is server-side — there's no clever workaround. OBD is the realistic free route.

Setup is "plug in dongle, point it at your wifi." If anyone wants the bridge code that turns it into the dashboards above I've put it on GitHub — happy to share in comments. Also happy to answer questions about the dongle itself, it's been solid.
