What do you guys think of Devil Wears Prada 2?

I haven’t watched it yet, I will though on Thursday!

I heard it’s mostly based on the current status of the fashion industry, and I was wondering if it was accurate from the eyes of people who are currently in the field!!

I’m currently a highschool student, time is ticking and everyone has selected a major but me.

But the thing is, I’ve always, truly had a passion for fashion design. However, I unfortunately got pushed out of this passion from family and friends as it has a reputation for being a low paying job that won’t pay off in the long run. Due to this, I stopped taking art classes in highschool so I no longer have a proper portfolio to create unless I really lock in-in the next few months before deadlines. My parents are immigrants, so me having a stable career is definitely important. I get that healthcare and law makes money, but my family genuinely cannot afford me going to med school, nor do I have the passion for it (this is a bit off topic).

I get that the main issue with pursuing fashion is to pursue it in the city, and that’s the good thing. I absolutely love New York City, or any busy cities in general. I would love to attend FIT in NYC. I was very passionate about fashion as well throughout middle school and freshman year of highschool. I would spend hours at my desk sketching designs and researching different designers and their pieces, I would sew dresses for my dolls since I didn’t have a bodice or mannequin. I obviously still have room for improvement, but that’s the point of going to design schools, right?

I don’t mind any designing job, since I’ve always had a passion for art and sketching. My only issue is will I be able to have a stable career, and is it worth it anymore if the high school classes I’m taking don’t align with my major?

I downloaded Reddit just for this because I’m genuinely having an identity crisis and I need closure from people that are in this specific field, since I’m surrounded by people that cannot give proper advice… I’m willing to do cc transfer if it means I get time to create a portfolio and apply to design schools like FIT and Parsons.
