I'm about the start a job at my 2nd ever company in a few days. I had joined my previous/old company as a grad and spent years there bouncing around roles and departments.
Which is just a round about way of saying the last time I had a probation period I was a plucky, desperate grad so I crushed my probation period. But I'm now a tired and cynical person who is unmotivated. Outside of the obvious like do the work, show up on time and don't be a general arsehole... What advice can you give on surviving probation? I've only ever felt this from a grad perspective so it felt like I had plenty of leeway to make mistakes.
Could you share stories of failed probation? It's my main concern, tbh. I get each company is different but normally how forgiving is a company with a new (non grad) employee getting their footing? Any warning signs I should be on the lookout for that probation is going badly?
