Mount Fuji in May

I climbed Mount Fuji from the second station (Mizugatsuka Park) of the Fujinomiya Route this weekend, because that's as far as the bus goes during the off-season. It's about a 3-hour hike to get to the fifth station from there.

The snow was pretty soft at this time and I didn't have any trouble on it with my crampons. Ended up putting crampons on at the eighth station and basically going in a straight line up to the top. Saw a lot of people with daypacks and even two people who only had one pack between them. There were a lot of skiers and snowboarders, too.

I brought a bit too much water and the crampon strap on my right foot kept coming undone. I need to get on top of learning how to properly do them. Also wish I had packed lighter.

The view into the crater was surreal and I wish I had had enough time to go around it. Thankfully, the wind at the top wasn't too bad. That was my biggest worry going into this.
