Question about the FERS Annuity supplement:

I retired in December via VERA and started receiving my full pension in April. I started a new job in December with my state government. I know that when the time comes for the survey, that supplement goes away. My question is--if I leave this job, can I get it re-started/reinstated? Or is it once it's gone, it's gone. Has anyone ever been through this scenario before? Also, if I work up until say Sept or Oct and then quit--how does that impact it?

Took DRP/VERA, thinking about jumping back into federal service..but I have questions:

So, I took the DRP/VERA from DOL in April 2025. Took off the summer and started searching for another job in September. I didn't want to retire, but I was afraid after 21 years of losing benefits--so I made the best decision I had with what information I had at the time. I was fully paid with DRP through 12/31 and I retired. I also landed a State government job in early December. I love the work of my new agency, but the agency is a shitshow---and they are making a great job miserable by having very unrealistic monthly production goals. AND to make it worse...they pay is fairly low. I recently saw a job opening for the National Labor Relations Board, so I've applied and we'll see where it goes.

So here are my questions:

How difficult is it for an agency to hire back a retiree?

Can I negotiate my annuity payment? Has anyone done or heard of negotiating whether this position will be treated as a reemployment appointment subject to the salary offset provisions, or whether the agency has authority to waive the offset?

I received my annual leave payout when I retired. Since I had 21 years, I was earning 8 hours per period. Do I go back to that or is it like a blank slate and I start back to 4 hrs?

I left the government as a GS-14. This job is GS-11...which I'm fine with because it's more than what I'm currently making. BUT, I can negotiate up to a GS-11, Step 10?

Does this mess up my health insurance in any way?

Anyone that had experience or knowledge about this, I would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks!

Adult child aged out of health insurance

My adult child turned 26 in April and has aged out of my health insurance. I just started receiving my annuity in February (interim) and then more regular since March. I thought I would give a month or two--but my insurance premium is still the Self Plus Family. I thought the reduction would happen automatically. I was searching the Service Online and they have a form where you can make changes, but I do not see a code for when a child ages out.

Has anyone else experienced this? Do I need to call OPM about this--or will this eventually go through on its own?

My husband just enrolled in Medicare Part A and B in February since he turned 65. He hadn't done our taxes yet. We are also covered by federal health insurance as I had to take an early retirement last year. My husband still works as a consultant and 2025 was a very slow year. We just met with our financial planner--and she recommended filing the SSA-44 because we are way under the AGI for the rate we are paying. The SSA Representative my husband met with in January never mentioned anything about this--we thought it was just the $200+. We know this year, we'll definitely be higher, but still qualify for the lower rate.

Can we still file for last year and get the lower amount?
